Hyperion Applications

Stockpile monitoring applications for bulk material industries

Hyperion stockpile monitoring turns LiDAR point clouds into accurate volumes and tonnages for cement plants, ready-mix producers, fertilizer terminals, grain co-ops, feed mills and coal yards. Pick your industry to see how it works in practice.

Why it matters

One stockpile monitoring system, many kinds of material

Every bulk operation shares the same problem: the number in the books rarely matches the material on the ground. Truck tickets drift with moisture and scale calibration, manual surveys are slow and dangerous, and visual estimates cannot account for irregular pile shapes.

Hyperion replaces those estimates with measured data. Permanently mounted EOS2 LiDAR sensors scan your piles on a schedule or on demand, and the software reconstructs each surface, computes volume and applies your bulk densities for tonnage. Coal, limestone, sand, potash, urea, grain and feed are all measured the same way.

  • No one climbs the pile: fixed scanners remove slip, fall and engulfment risk.
  • No downtime: scans run during normal operations.
  • One source of truth shared from the plant floor to finance.

Process

How Hyperion stockpile monitoring works

The same three steps apply whatever material you store.

1

Scan

Eye-safe Class 1 EOS2 LiDAR scanners mounted above your piles capture a full 360° point cloud on a schedule or on demand. Drone and third-party point clouds are supported too.

2

Process

Hyperion merges data from multiple scanners, filters out noise and equipment, reconstructs the pile surface and computes volume, with quality checks on every result.

3

Act

Volumes and tonnages appear on your dashboard within minutes, with 3D models, height maps and trends, and can flow to your ERP or BI tools through the API.

Proven accuracy

Survey-grade results in a working plant

At a cement plant in Newberry, Florida, four EOS2 scanners on overhead trusses measured an indoor coal stockpile in under 20 minutes, during normal operations. Hyperion's mass estimate came within 0.55% of a certified third-party terrestrial survey.
