Hyperion for Ready-Mix
Ready-mix aggregate inventory you can reconcile
Truck tickets tell you what should be in your bins. Hyperion measures what actually is, with LiDAR scans of every aggregate pile, so you can find discrepancies before they become losses.

The challenge
Why ticket-based aggregate inventory drifts
Ready-mix plants move a constant flow of sand and stone. Rapid turnover makes accurate aggregate inventory hard to maintain, and ticket-only accounting hides the gaps.
High material throughput
Frequent deliveries and draws complicate tracking, and every ticket is a chance for error to enter the books.
Multiple aggregate types
Each material needs its own precise count, so a plant with several bins has several inventories to keep right.
Tickets carry hidden variables
Moisture, scale calibration and inconsistent material flow all affect ticket weights. Small errors accumulate until book and physical inventory no longer agree.
Comparison
Ticketing system vs. Hyperion scanning
How ticket-based accounting compares with direct LiDAR measurement of aggregate stockpiles.
| Category | Traditional ticketing | Hyperion scanning |
|---|---|---|
| Accuracy | Depends on truck scales, moisture changes and material flow inconsistencies. | Direct, consistent volumetric measurement of the material actually on the ground. |
| Financial impact | Discrepancies accumulate into hidden losses. | Identifies leaks between theoretical and physical inventory. |
| Consistency | Dependent on operators and manual entry, with high variability. | Automated scans deliver consistent, unbiased data. |
| Scalability | Local data silos that are hard to standardize across sites. | Cloud-based, and integrates with ERP systems such as SAP and JD Edwards. |
How it works
How Hyperion measures your aggregate bins
Automated, per-bin inventory from fixed LiDAR sensors.
Scan every bin
EOS2 LiDAR sensors on poles above your bins capture the full surface of each pile on a schedule or on demand. Solar power and wireless links keep installation simple in an open yard.
Volume and tonnage per material
Hyperion reconstructs each pile, calculates its volume and applies the bulk density you set for that aggregate to report tonnage bin by bin.
Reconcile against tickets
Compare measured inventory with theoretical and ticketed inventory over any period, and send the numbers to your ERP to drive purchasing, production and loss prevention.
Case study
What the Quikrete Ocala plant found
Comparing three months of theoretical, physical and Hyperion scan data at a high-volume ready-mix plant in Ocala, Florida revealed more than $160k in ticket-based inventory gaps. In control tests, Hyperion agreed with truck tickets to within 4–6%, and the system cost $675 per month to run.
Ready-mix inventory FAQ
Ticket weights are affected by moisture, scale calibration and inconsistent material flow. Those small variables accumulate, so book inventory drifts away from what is actually in the bins. At the Quikrete Ocala RMX plant, ticket-based gaps of more than $160k were observed.
Yes. Hyperion measures each pile or bin on its own and applies the bulk density you set for that material, so sand, limestone and other aggregates each get their own volume and tonnage.
Yes. Hyperion is cloud-based and integrates with ERP systems such as SAP and JD Edwards through its API and exportable data formats.
