Sensor Hardware

LiDAR sensors built for permanent 3D monitoring

Altamus designs and builds its own LiDAR sensor hardware so that accurate 3D data is affordable enough to install permanently, not rent once a quarter. Our sensors feed Hyperion for automated stockpile inventory and export open point clouds for everything else.

Why we build our own sensors

Affordable LiDAR sensor hardware, designed in-house

Traditional long-range LiDAR scanners are priced for occasional survey work. That makes them hard to justify for continuous monitoring, where you want a sensor fixed in place and scanning every day or every hour.

Altamus approached the problem as an engineering company that designs electronics, firmware and enclosures under one roof. The result is sensor hardware that focuses on what permanent installations actually need: a wide field of view, useful range, low power, wireless data and a rugged housing, at a price that scales across a whole facility.

Every Altamus sensor produces standard 3D point clouds. Use them in Hyperion for automated volumes, or export them to your own analysis and modeling tools.

Sensor to software

How sensors feed Hyperion

From a fixed mount on a truss or pole to a quality-checked inventory report, without anyone climbing the pile.

1

Mount and connect

EOS2 sensors attach to trusses, beams or poles with a standard 3/4" NPT fitting and communicate over Wi-Fi, so there is no data cable to run.

2

Scan on a schedule

Hyperion triggers scans hourly, daily or on demand. Each sensor sweeps a full sphere and uploads its point cloud.

3

Merge and measure

Point clouds from multiple sensors are merged, filtered and turned into volumes, tonnages, 3D models and height maps within minutes.

In a Newberry, Florida cement plant, four EOS2 sensors measured an indoor coal pile within 0.55% of a certified terrestrial survey. Read the cement plant case study.
