Getting started
What Altamus does and how to begin.
Altamus builds Hyperion stockpile monitoring software, the EOS2 LiDAR sensor and STACguard air emissions data acquisition software. We also offer hardware and software engineering services for custom projects.
Permanently mounted LiDAR sensors scan your piles on a schedule or on demand, and Hyperion converts each point cloud into a quality-checked volume and tonnage. No one has to climb or walk the pile. See how LiDAR monitoring works for the full explanation.
Hyperion is used for bulk materials in cement plants, ready-mix concrete, fertilizer, feed and grain storage and coal and fuel storage.
It depends on your storage layout. Each EOS2 covers roughly 100–200 ft in every direction (200–400 ft across) depending on material visibility, and every pile needs a clear line of sight. Contact us with a site plan or photos and we will recommend a layout.
Yes. Start with a 90-day pilot at your facility: our team helps you plan the sensor layout, get set up and compare Hyperion's results with the way you measure inventory today. Learn about the 90-day pilot.
A typical deployment covers a site assessment, sensor layout planning, installation, commissioning in Hyperion, training and ongoing support. The deployment and support page walks through each step.
Hyperion software
Stockpile inventory monitoring, reporting and integration.
Hyperion is stockpile inventory monitoring software that calculates volumes from 3D point clouds. It merges data from multiple scanners, filters out noise and equipment, and quality-checks every result within minutes.
With EOS2 sensors, scans run on demand or on a schedule. The Entry plan includes daily automatic data, and the Pro plan includes hourly automatic data with unlimited on-demand scans.
Yes. Hyperion accepts point clouds from processed drone flights and other scanners in common geospatial formats. Pairing it with EOS2 sensors adds fully automated, scheduled scanning.
Yes. Hyperion is modular: data from multiple sensors is automatically merged and registered into one view, so coverage can grow with your operation.
Yes. Hyperion provides API access and exportable data formats for inventory management, ERP systems such as SAP or JD Edwards, and reporting platforms.
You set a bulk density for each material, ideally lab-verified, and Hyperion applies it to the measured volume so every pile shows both volume and tonnage.
Yes. You can draw digital boundaries around individual piles and manage many materials, each with its own bulk density. Grain co-ops use this to track grain owned by different members.
Yes. Hyperion supports custom alerts for low tonnage, rapid depletion and fill events, and you can assign user roles and permissions so each person sees the data they need.
EOS2 LiDAR sensor
Scanning, installation, power and connectivity.
The EOS2 is a long-range spherical LiDAR sensor built for permanent indoor or outdoor installation. It rotates its rangefinder through a full 360° x 180° field of view and uses an eye-safe Class 1 laser.
About 3 minutes for a full spherical scan at 1° angular resolution, which makes frequent scheduled or on-demand scanning practical.
Each scanner reaches 100–200 ft from where it is mounted (200–400 ft across), depending on how visible the material is. For larger sites, point clouds from several scanners are merged for unlimited system coverage.
No. The EOS2 works locally through its companion app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. An internet connection and a Hyperion account are recommended for remote access to your data and alerts.
Yes. Indoors it mounts to overhead trusses or building purlins; outdoors it goes on poles. The IP54 enclosure is dust protected and resists splashing water, and the mount is a standard 3/4" NPT, with a 1/4"-20 UNC thread for top mounting. See installation options.
The EOS2 runs on 12 VDC, drawing 25 mA idle, 500 mA while scanning and 2 A peak. That is low enough for a solar panel and battery kit, and a ready-mix site we monitor uses pole-mounted, solar-powered sensors.
Yes. The EOS2 is optimized for Hyperion, but you can export point clouds to tools such as CloudCompare and MeshLab, or to Blender, Unity or Unreal Engine. See point cloud generation for examples.
Accuracy & environment
How reliable the numbers are, and where the system works.
At a Newberry, Florida cement plant, Hyperion's mass estimate for an indoor coal pile came within 0.55% of a certified third-party terrestrial survey. The EOS2 is specified at 1% rangefinder accuracy and 0.25° angular accuracy, and tonnage accuracy also depends on using a correct bulk density.
Hyperion's quality assurance shows where data was missing and interpolated, and flags or discards periods of questionable accuracy, so you know how much to trust each number.
Yes. LiDAR is an active sensor that supplies its own light, so it measures the pile surface regardless of lighting.
No. The laser is eye-safe, so there is no need to clear the area. At the Newberry plant, four scanners completed scanning and processing in under 20 minutes during normal operations, with no downtime.
Ticket weights are affected by moisture, scale calibration and inconsistent material flow, and those errors accumulate. At a ready-mix plant in Ocala, Florida, ticket-based gaps of more than $160k were observed.
STACguard
Air emissions data acquisition and compliance reporting.
STACguard (Systems Tracking, Analysis and Compliance Guard) is a web-based data acquisition system for environmental monitoring. It collects, processes and reports data from air sampling instruments and CEMS, built on more than 50 years of air sampling experience.
No. STACguard is the data acquisition and handling software. It connects to the analyzers you already have and handles logging, averaging, alarms and reporting.
Yes. STACguard supports digital and analog inputs and works with analyzers from a range of manufacturers. Our team sets up the communication, and later configuration changes need no programming.
Yes. STACguard runs in any modern browser, including phones and tablets, with no software installation, so you can monitor systems, trigger calibrations and respond to alerts remotely.
STACguard raises instrument and system-level alarms and sends email notifications, including periodic status reports, calibration failures and threshold violations.
STACguard is configured around your permit, for example 40 CFR Part 60 and Part 75 for steam generation, Parts 60 and 63 for fertilizer plants, or a simple single-monitor Part 60 setup for soil reclamation units.
Pricing, purchasing & support
Plans, hardware options and what happens after installation.
Hyperion Entry is $100 per facility per month and Pro is $500 per facility per month. A 90-day pilot is available so you can prove it on your own stockpiles first. See Hyperion pricing.
You can purchase an EOS2 for $2,750 per scanner or lease one for $100 per scanner per month. Hyperion software is priced separately. See EOS2 pricing.
A purchased sensor includes a 1-year hardware warranty, after which you maintain it. A lease includes health monitoring targeting 100% uptime, lifetime hardware updates and replacement for manufacturing defects while the plan is active.
Yes. Bulk pricing for EOS2 sensors and multi-site pricing for Hyperion are available on request. Contact us with your site count and layout.
STACguard is quoted per project because each system is configured around your analyzers, emission sources and reporting requirements. Request a quote.
All Hyperion plans include free updates for life, and Pro adds integrated support and priority updates. STACguard includes 24/7 phone support. Our in-house hardware technician repairs field units and manufactures replacement parts. See deployment and support.
Yes. Training is part of going live, and we also offer training as a service for the tools and systems we deliver.
